Biobank Research NetworkThe Biobank Research Network, yet to be officially formed, will consist of a broad group of scientists involved in all aspects of prostate cancer research. The network will be open to scientists in Québec, elsewhere in Canada , from the U.S. and from the rest of world. The Biobank will engage the research community through the Research Network to understand the needs (tissue, other biological material and information) of current and future prostate cancer research, both upfront during the development stage and on an ongoing basis. While all researchers will potentially have access to Biobank tissue and information, a portion of the materials will be allocated preferentially to the Biobank Collection Network within the CHUM, CHUQ, CHUS and MUHC, as well as their affiliated research institutes and partner hospitals. It is anticipated that one liaison per university will be named to represent the university in developing the material allocation model, as well as to help define and better understand the needs of the research community in regards to the biomaterials and information to collect. Our goal is that all research employing Biobank materials will involve the collaboration of local Biobank Research Network members, thus stimulating collaboration between Québec university scientists and other academic and industrial researchers.
