Prostate Cancer Research ReportIn today’s world, information is available from so many sources it is often difficult to determine if the information that you are reading is credible and current. For people with prostate cancer, their families and for those at risk, all this information can be overwhelming. The seemingly contradictory articles we read can also add to some of this frustration. That is why we have created this section. Here, we go directly to the sources of information (the studies themselves) so that you can read for yourselves about the medical studies that have been done and what conclusions were drawn as a result. This Latest Research Report has six sub sections: Risk Factors, Prevention, PSA Testing and Screening, Treatments, Side Effects, and Alternative and Complementary Medicine. We have organized each subsection into categories with the most recent studies at the top. As new studies emerge we will update these areas, so we encourage you to return to this section periodically. The purpose of this Latest Research Report is to provide you with many studies that have been conducted over time in order to give you a broader understanding of all of the research that has been done on a particular topic. This way, rather than relying on the findings of one particular study, you will have the results of many with which to draw from. This is the first report of its kind. We hope that you will recognize the importance and uniqueness of it as well as finding it interesting and informative. All the information in this report has been reviewed by members of our Web Site Clinical Advisory Council members. As you will see, there is still a lot of information missing about prostate cancer, how it manifests and how to prevent it. That is why PROCURE has collaborated with the four University Hospital Centers across Quebec to accelerate research into this disease. Luc Valiquette and Paul Perrotte for their valuable assistance in reviewing the content of this report. We also would like to thank our entire Education and Awareness Committee and Web Site Clinical Advisory Council members for guiding us to all the relevant journals across scientific disciplines. Finally, thanks to Robb Beattie who searched all the pertinent journals and wrote all the summaries here in. Last updated: March 20, 2007
